Be-Ro Pancake

Be-Ro Pancake

A Be-Ro Pancake is a traditional British-style pancake made using Be-Ro self-raising flour, which ensures a fluffy texture. Unlike American pancakes, these are slightly thinner but thicker than crêpes, making them versatile for various toppings and fillings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 100g Be-Ro self-raising flour
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar (for sweet pancakes)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 200ml milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (plus extra for frying)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

  • In a mixing bowl, sift the Be-Ro self-raising flour and add a pinch of salt.
  • If making sweet pancakes, stir in caster sugar.
  • Create a well in the center and crack in the egg.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring a smooth, lump-free batter.
  • Stir in the melted butter to enhance the texture.

Step 2: Heat the Pan

  • Place a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and brush with a little butter.
  • Allow the pan to heat up before cooking the pancakes.

Step 3: Cook the Pancakes

  • Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan, tilting slightly to spread it evenly.
  • Cook for 1-2 minutes, until bubbles form on the surface and the edges lift slightly.
  • Flip with a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  • Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
