Jamie Oliver Hot Chocolate Recipe – A Rich and Creamy Delight

Jamie Oliver Hot Chocolate

Jamie Oliver’s Hot Chocolate is a creamy, homemade beverage made with real chocolate, milk, and a touch of cinnamon or vanilla for extra depth. Unlike instant hot cocoa, this version is thick, smooth, and incredibly rich, making it perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Hot Chocolate:

  • 500ml whole milk
  • 100g dark chocolate (70% cocoa), finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt

For Toppings (Optional):

  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Mini marshmallows
  • A dusting of cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk – Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat over low-medium heat until warm but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
  2. Melt the chocolate – Add the finely chopped dark chocolate and whisk continuously until it melts completely into the milk.
  3. Add cocoa powder and sugar – Sift in the cocoa powder and add sugar, whisking well to ensure a smooth consistency.
  4. Incorporate spices and vanilla – Stir in the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt for enhanced flavor.
  5. Simmer to thicken – Let the mixture gently simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until it becomes rich and creamy.
  6. Serve immediately – Pour into heatproof mugs and top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or marshmallows for an extra indulgent touch.
