Mary Berry’s Chocolate Pots are small, decadent chocolate desserts served in ramekins or small cups. They are made with dark chocolate, cream, sugar, and eggs, creating a silky and rich texture similar to chocolate mousse or ganache. These individual desserts are quick to prepare and perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa, chopped)
  • 300ml double cream
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, for extra silkiness)

For Serving:

  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh raspberries or strawberries
  • Grated chocolate or cocoa powder
  • Shortbread biscuits

Instructions

Step 1: Melt the Chocolate

  • Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  • Heat the double cream and sugar in a small saucepan over low heat until just simmering (do not boil).

Step 2: Combine the Ingredients

  • Pour the warm cream mixture over the chocolate and let it sit for 2 minutes.
  • Stir gently until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

Step 3: Add the Egg Yolks

  • Lightly whisk the egg yolks in a separate bowl.
  • Slowly pour the egg yolks into the chocolate mixture, whisking continuously to avoid scrambling.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

Step 4: Divide into Ramekins

  • Pour the mixture evenly into four small ramekins or cups.
  • Let them cool at room temperature for 10 minutes before refrigerating.

Step 5: Chill Until Set

  • Cover with cling film and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  • Garnish with whipped cream, fresh berries, and grated chocolate.
  • Serve chilled with shortbread biscuits for an extra treat.
