Hairy Bikers Mashed Potatoes

Hairy Bikers Mashed Potatoes

Hairy Bikers Mashed Potatoes are a rich and creamy version of the traditional mashed potatoes we all know and love. With the perfect balance of butter, cream, and seasoning, they are smooth, indulgent, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1kg potatoes (Maris Piper or Yukon Gold recommended)
  • 50g butter
  • 100ml milk (or cream for extra richness)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 tbsp fresh chives or parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks. This ensures they cook at the same rate.
  2. Boil the Potatoes: Place the potato chunks in a large saucepan, cover with cold water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and easily pierced with a knife.
  3. Drain the Potatoes: Drain the cooked potatoes in a colander and let them steam for a few minutes to remove excess moisture.
  4. Mash the Potatoes: Return the potatoes to the saucepan or a mixing bowl. Add the butter and milk (or cream). Use a potato masher or ricer to mash until smooth and creamy.
  5. Season to Taste: Add salt and pepper to taste, mixing well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish. If desired, garnish with fresh chives or parsley for a burst of color and flavor.
