Jamie Oliver Hunters Chicken Recipe

Jamie Oliver Hunters Chicken

Hunters Chicken is a classic British pub dish featuring chicken breast wrapped in bacon, smothered in barbecue sauce, and baked with cheese. It’s a delicious combination of smoky, savory, and sweet flavors that pairs beautifully with various sides.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts: 4, boneless and skinless.
  • Bacon: 8 rashers (streaky works best).
  • Barbecue sauce: 200ml (homemade or store-bought).
  • Cheddar cheese: 100g, grated.
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon.
  • Salt and pepper: To taste.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the chicken
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Wrap each chicken breast with two bacon rashers, overlapping them slightly to secure.

Step 2: Sear the chicken
Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Sear the wrapped chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned. This step locks in the juices and gives the bacon a crispy edge.

Step 3: Assemble the dish
Place the seared chicken breasts in a baking dish. Generously spoon or brush the barbecue sauce over each chicken breast, ensuring they’re fully coated.

Step 4: Add cheese and bake
Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese evenly over the chicken. Transfer the dish to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbling and golden.

Step 5: Serve and enjoy
Remove from the oven and let the dish rest for a few minutes. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
