  • 150g plain flour
  • 100g unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 75g demerara sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or 350°F.
  2. Prepare the Pears:
    • Peel, core, and slice the pears.
    • Place them in a medium baking dish and toss with lemon juice, sugar, and ground cinnamon (if using).
  3. Make the Crumble Topping:
    • In a mixing bowl, add the flour and cubed butter.
    • Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
    • Stir in the demerara sugar.

    • Spread the crumble topping evenly over the pears, ensuring all the fruit is covered.
  5. Bake the Crumble:
    • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pears are bubbling.
