Jamie Oliver No-Bake Chocolate Oat Bars Recipe

Jamie Oliver No-Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

These no-bake bars combine oats, chocolate, and natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup into a dense and chewy texture. They are set in the refrigerator, making them a quick and easy alternative to baked treats.

Ingredients

  • Rolled oats: 200g (2 cups).
  • Dark chocolate: 150g (5 oz), chopped.
  • Peanut butter: 100g (½ cup), smooth or crunchy.
  • Honey or maple syrup: 100ml (⅓ cup).
  • Butter: 50g (¼ cup).
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon.
  • Salt: A pinch.

Optional Add-ins:

  • Chopped nuts: 50g (½ cup), such as almonds or walnuts.
  • Dried fruits: 50g (½ cup), such as raisins or cranberries.
  • Seeds: 2 tablespoons, such as chia or flax seeds.

Instructions

Step 1: Line the pan

Line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

Step 2: Melt the chocolate mixture

In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), and chopped chocolate. Stir constantly until smooth and combined. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

Step 3: Combine with oats

In a large mixing bowl, pour the melted chocolate mixture over the rolled oats. Stir until the oats are evenly coated. Add any optional nuts, dried fruits, or seeds if desired.

Step 4: Press into the pan

Transfer the mixture to the lined baking pan. Press down firmly with a spatula to create an even layer.

Step 5: Chill to set

Refrigerate the pan for at least 2 hours, or until the bars are firm and set.

Step 6: Slice and serve

Once set, use the parchment overhang to lift the mixture out of the pan. Slice into squares or bars and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
