Jamie Oliver’s Baked Apples are whole apples cored and stuffed with a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts, and raisins, then baked until tender. The result is a naturally sweet, spiced dessert that’s both wholesome and indulgent. Serve them with ice cream or yogurt for a comforting finish to any meal.
4 large baking apples (e.g., Granny Smith, Honeycrisp)
4 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
50g chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
50g raisins or dried cranberries
2 tbsp butter (or coconut oil for a vegan option)
200ml boiling water (for the baking dish)
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2: Prepare the Apples
Wash the apples and pat them dry. Use a sharp knife or apple corer to remove the cores, leaving the base intact to hold the filling.
Step 3: Make the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, chopped nuts, and raisins. Mix well.
Step 4: Stuff the Apples
Fill each apple cavity with the sugar-spice mixture. Top each apple with a small piece of butter (or coconut oil).
Step 5: Bake
Place the apples in a baking dish and pour boiling water into the base of the dish (this keeps them moist). Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the filling is bubbly.
Step 6: Serve
Let the apples cool slightly, then serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, yogurt, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
